Active Directory (AD) is Microsoft’s directory service that handles authentication, authorization, and management of network resources in a Windows domain.

LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) is an open protocol used to access and manage directory information.

AD uses LDAP, but it also includes other protocols like Kerberos. LDAP itself is platform-independent and can be used with other systems like OpenLDAP.

Group Policy is a feature in Windows that allows system admins to control user and computer settings across a network. You can enforce password rules, restrict app usage, install updates, and more—centrally from Active Directory.
